The last ends. Why, in the middle of a book about a mushroom, would you put a sixteen-page ode to silence that is difficult to translate?
Well, let me try and answer that. It is a multi-faceted answer:
Uno! The waertstool is a noise killer, and you don’t know what that noise is until you feel it go away. The mushroom removes that terrible brain noise and maybe for the first time in your life you will experience what real silence can be, real peace in your mind. Therefore, an ode to that silence was indispensable.
Due! The waertstool and its intelligent inhabitants want to give poetry and songs a whitewash. That is why in this book I have collected songs and poems that deal with this mushroom, but I have also carried out an exploratory mission, in a skrying sense, and that is how I ended up with Edna St. Vincent Millay. Did you know that neither gnome nor goblin have a clear etymological origin? In fact, nobody knows where these words come from. But it is clear that they love singing, and love poems, and you’ll find out for yourself after a good cup of shroomy tea!
Philosophical gnome intermezzo: What role does silence play in the creation of good poetry? We know that there are plenty of earthlings who would love to write legendary songs and poems, but what do they get down on paper, well, isn’t that just a reflection of the noise in their heads? Poetry noise, noise songs. And then reading that to people with noisy brains, oh dear oh dear, that only makes it worse! How is it, do you think, that when I read a book of poetry by Attila Joszef through Google Lens, it is immediately stronger than many a work written in Dutch by a noisy poet? A powerful, noiseless voice!
Tre. My skry technique is impeccable, and I recognised in Edna St. Vincent Millay the perfect Amanita poetess avant-le-lettre. You must understand that this mushroom favours women and is no friend of the oppressive patriarchy. That’s why you see that the Amanita movement consists for a very substantial part of women who have noticed that this mushroom has an incredible empowering effect: it drives away the autumn depression, provides a superior form of vitamin D, and above all teaches women to become assertive again and to say no. That’s why I think that Millay, as an outcast from the school system, is an excellent role model for the mushroom, not that she used it, unfortunately the knowledge was not yet available during her life, she would certainly have lived longer and more pleasantly.
Therefore, a 16-page ode to silence in my book SHHHHHHROOM.
And yes, in the chapter on nutrition. Because anyone who is interested in true nutrition cannot avoid silence. Where do you see a ‘diet’ with silence and oxygen as core ingredients? Nowhere! The ‘diets’ and ‘dead-eats’ apparently do not understand anything about human metabolism. Follow my method and you will see that you were stuck in a contraction, which taught you that nutrition is about eating, while silence and oxygen are the basis of a really healthy metabolism. Eating comes only afterwards.
