Full Flower Moon
Tomorrow, as our journey begins, it coincides with a so-called full flower moon, during which the moon also happens to be at its farthest point from the Earth in its cycle.
I’ve finished the tracklist:
All the tracks are finished and only need a final master to align them sound-wise, which I will do in Germany.
I’ve removed all of Kroes’ old tracks from Spotify. I’ve done so because I’ve decided to do away with the distributor entirely — the interface and support were a constant source of irritation: I can hardly imagine anything more pedantic than Tunecore, and I don’t want to spend a substantial portion of my time dealing with frustrations over an interface or unnecessary, condescending feedback. Besides, those older songs were only conceptually solid — the sound left much to be desired, as the older A.I. technology just wasn’t up to par.
Yet because the A.I. wasn’t good enough, I really learned how to mix and master well — countless hours went into it, alongside heavy investments in gear. So now I have everything I need to produce studio-quality albums on my own.
I’m going to focus on Country, as that genre lends itself best to strong lyrics.
A few months ago, a journalist from the Eindhovens Dagblad reached out to me after discovering my music. That already says something about music being more effective than the extinct reach of poetry. Though I haven’t abandoned poetry either — quite the opposite — I’ve spread my wings via new publishers in Italy and Turkey.
This is my last post from Dutch soil. Tomorrow, I will lose my childhood home. I had a very specific kind of buyer in mind, and they appeared immediately — someone who could renovate it themselves. The house sold within five days — could that be a record? The transfer still took months, so we’ll stay in cooler regions: we’re heading north, perhaps all the way to Lapland. Today is for packing the car. The next post will be from Grimmland.
Greetings,
